"Red Hind" is a captivating representation that pays homage to the lesser-seen yet remarkable Caribbean fish by the same name. The cardboard and wood base forms the foundation for the fish-shaped assemblage, providing stability and structure. The choice of shape immediately conveys the aquatic theme, allowing the viewer to connect with the subject matter. Using fabric, lace, beads, glass, thread, wire, and plastic adds a diverse and textured quality to the piece. The combination of these materials reflects my attention to detail, which mirrors the patterns and colors found in the features of the red hind. Incorporating unconventional items like aluminum cans, buttons, and hair clips adds a whimsical and unexpected element to the composition.
