First, find a piece of art you love and start an installment plan to purchase it over time. During checkout, you can opt to have the piece shipped directly to your home, or you can pick up the piece directly from the artist’s studio (for a very special studio visit experience). If you want the most convenience possible, you can opt to have your new piece hung on your wall for you by Art in Res staff.
Once you have your piece, you will be billed every 30 days until you have paid off your piece completely.
Pricing varies per artwork. You can own a piece for as little as $30/month. Our most expensive pieces are $500/month (and tend to be pretty big!).
All of our artworks are original, hand-made, one of a kind pieces by emerging artists.
Beyond that, we offer lot of variety in subject matter, style, size, price, and medium. Browse our complete collection here.
Artwork prices range from $150 to $12,000, and monthly prices range from $30/month to $500/month.
It’s a special experience where you visit the artist in their studio and spend a bit of time with them. A typical studio visit involves discussing the artist’s inspirations, influences, and process - perhaps over tea or a glass of wine - but the specifics of any given studio visit are as varied and unique as the artists themselves.
For collectors who are interested, we always encourage them to visit the artist’s studio for a memorable, personal, and educational experience.
Hanging the artwork is very simple. In the vast majority of cases, all you need is a nail (or hook) in the wall.
To read about perfect alignment, plaster walls, studs, and more, check out our artwork hanging best practices.
Never - all of the work on Art in Res comes ready to hang. For works on paper, the artist will prepare the work in a frame for you, or mount the artwork on a hangable surface.

Artist FAQ
Great! First, you need to apply to list your artwork. Application is super simple and takes about a minute: just fill out the form here.
We approve roughly 15% of artist applications. If you are approved, we’ll reach out to you with next steps to get started.
First, you upload your art. We ask you to provide information about your listed artworks (such as dimensions, materials, and an optional statement).
When you get a sale, it will contain information about how to get the artwork to the collector. In most cases, we will send you a shipping label and ask you to ship the artwork to the collector in the next few days. In some cases, collectors will want to visit you in the studio and pick up the piece themselves.
Art in Res is free for artists! The platform makes money by taking a small cut on your sales.
You get paid every time a buyer makes a payment towards one of your pieces they've bought. The amount they pay varies per artwork, based on the total price of the artwork.
Art in Res’ commission on sales is 30%, which includes sales tax and payment processing fees.
They are quite simple:
The work must be your original, one-of-a-kind work.
The artwork must be ready to hang.
The maximum height and width is 60” for each dimension.
The maximum weight is 25 lbs.
We do make some exceptions for special cases (e.g. lobby installations, staging projects, etc.) but we do enforce these requirements for the majority of our users.
Yes - and some do! But for many of our collectors, it’s very helpful to break the purchase up into multiple payments.
Your entire work will be paid off after 24 months.
You can simply reject the request. There isn’t a penalty for doing so.
Art in Res also provides a messenger that artists and collectors can use to communicate during this process to work out any issues, and you can always ask us for help, too.
Some artists are sensitive about listing the prices of their work online - and we understand that. We do allow artists to list their work anonymously (or pseudonymously), if that is their preference. A small percentage of our artists do take advantage of this feature.
Nope! You can use your initials or a pseudonym, if you prefer. We find that artists get more sales if they use their real name (collectors love to get to know you!) but you're not required to do so.
No - if you’d prefer to only ship your works (or perform quick handoffs at your studio), that’s fine.
But, that said, we think that the studio visit is the best, purest form of Art in Res. Our collectors tend to have the best experience when they can spend a bit of time with the artist in the studio, discussing and exploring their work.
Yes, we ask our artists to pack all artworks securely for shipping and/or collector pickup.
We don’t have a hard and fast rule, but “reasonably large” is great. We don’t need super high-definition images, but we also can’t accept bad, low resolution images.
(If that answer doesn’t satisfy, or isn’t precise enough for your taste, aim for 3,000 pixels on the “short” end of the image.)
