All the watercolors begin outdoors: I draw on site. They are then taken into the studio where I work on them with water and brushes. As with my oil paintings, I am interested in unruly, chance-based qualities. I often introduce a foreign material that will cause the water to settle in its own, crazy ways. These works involve perception, but also a making visible of the energy we we share, not only person-to-person, but also with all of the natural world. The titles indicate where I was, and what kind of energy I was interacting with as I made the initial layer of the painting. During 2016, my husband and I met family members for a fishing trip in the cradle of trout fishing in America. I made a lot of watercolors while they were happy casting flies into the waters. This artwork is sold unframed.
