Originally supposed to be an hour-long sketch, but turned out to be a multiple sitting project. My partner works as a flower-delivery driver and gave me this bouquet one day; it had been purchased by a regular customer who gets fresh flowers installed at their house every week. These flowers were still good, but were scheduled to be tossed, to make room for new arrivals. I was happy to adopt them and spend some time together making a tribute to their unusual, artichoke-like beauty.
