oil on salvaged aluminum composite

NOTE: mounts flush to the wall using a velcro mount system I found a stack of preshaped sign blanks sitting out in the rain on Ingraham Street in Bushwick one night and it took me an hour to collect them all and bring them up to my studio to be degreased. Aluminum composite - which is what most street signs are printed on - is an excellent painting surface. It's slick and doesn't absorb paint the way canvas does, so paint acts very differently in the act of creation. I elected here to leave some of the metallic surface to shine through, giving the painting a feeling of ephemeral transparency, much like the flash-in-a-pan fashions on the Lower East Side mannequins depicted here.
