This artwork is a mixed-media collage that explores the impact of plastic pollution on living organisms at the cellular level. By using recycled plastic, printed packaging, and found objects, I aim to visually represent how microplastics and synthetic debris infiltrate internal biological systems, specifically the human liver. The vibrant and textured collage mimics a cross-section of a liver cell, with each material chosen for its symbolic resonance: plastics for contamination, artificial plant foliage for the extent to which we've become disconnected from nature, and buttons for cellular structures. Through this piece, I aim to evoke both curiosity and concern, highlighting the hidden consequences of our reliance on plastics and the intricate ways in which environmental toxins become integrated into our bodies. The interplay of color and texture invites viewers to look closely and consider the invisible yet pervasive health threats that originate from our daily habits and waste. This artwork prompts more profound reflection on our roles as both contributors to and victims of global plastic pollution.
