This piece is a part of the series Homage to Ryijy. Ryijy is a traditional woven wall tapestry in Finland, most often made by women. Like so much craft, ryijy is commonly considered as non individualistic and decorative and therefore it is not given the primary status of "fine art". When looked at closely though, women who make ryijy put their own individual flavor to each piece and contribute to the evolution of this traditional folk art. Each work on paper comes mounted on standard 24X35 white frame.
