My work is an exploration into the ways in which immigrants negotiate belonging and home. The parameters and limitations of mobility are represented by fences and fishing nets- in reference to borders and tools of entrapment, both forced and self-imposed. The abstract forms that appear to trespass these structures of domination, are inspired by the impermanent: the water, the clouds and the celestial. The tension between the networks of entrapment and the energy-bearing painted forms illustrate the struggles for self-realization and self-determination that immigrants carry.
