Open Horizontals
Open Horizontal XXVI
The color blocks on this piece remind me of a clean lines of a modern interior, but I most like the subtle variations of black and blue hues that remind me of clouds rolling in at night.
Open Horizontal III - 2019
The brush strokes of this piece speak of an organic feel, this evokes a feeling of a reflection on water giving me a tranquil feeling.
Geometric Lines
Pyrren
This piece has excitement in movement. The lines create a wonderful organic feel and the repeated lines give the overall feeling for three-dimensions.
Tchoupitoulas
This is a very contrasting piece, it has more geometric lines and its rhythm is very architectural. The beautiful thing is you can hear some amazing Jazz, in the heart of Louisiana, while looking at this painting.
Minimal Abstraction
RV-169
What I like most about this piece is that the artist is taking her art back to the basics to see what could be used minimally to effect the figure. This piece looks like it could be a sculpture instead of a painting.
When Pink Overcame Green
These two colors are opposite each other on the color wheel, yet they create a harmony and rhythm that is energizing. It keeps your eye moving around the canvas.
Our Eye
Peony
This minimalist abstract painting has a great use of color. The contrast between the light and dark do a great job of moving your eye around the piece.
Self With a Gut Feeling
The first thing I noticed about this piece is the look in the subject eyes. Her gaze is leery and she peers through the slats of the blinds. The silhouette of the foreground gives amazing visual interest to the eye.
Repetition
let there be warmth, let there be light
Your eye plays between the line and the empty space. Giving your eye visual interest. This creates an optical illusion, making you see shapes in the empty space.
Everything Connects
The use of green against a while background makes the green the focal point. This has a very organic feel, but has enough visual interest to keep the eye moving.
About Blanche Garcia of B. garcia Designs
Famously known as a designer who goes against the grain in an industry so fixated on trends, Interior Designer and Entrepreneur Blanche Garcia’s aesthetic is not one that can be labeled. Instead, her design is looked upon as a lifestyle that is individual to her and especially to each of her clients.
Long before her days as a successful Interior Designer, Garcia found her love of construction while volunteering at the age of 12 for nonprofit building projects around the country with her mother. It was there that she learned to develop construction crafts such as electrical, drywall and tile work, among many others.
Her determination paved the way for Blanche to study Interior Design, obtaining a degree in the field from Willsey Institute of Interior Design and Berkley, New York. Having a knack for intuitively knowing how a client’s space should look, feel and function – Blanche works to help them create a space that is all about them and is a reflection of who they are and how they feel about life.
The secret behind Blanche Garcia’s success is that, unlike other designers, she believes design should say something about the people experiencing it, not about the person designing it. Her design philosophy and approach urges clients to not only envision designing a space for someone else, but also designing a life they want to live. To Blanche Garcia, every decision in her work has a purpose— every fixture, every color and every piece of furniture has a reason to help tell your story.
In 2011, Garcia starred as a contestant on the season 6 interior design reality competition series "Design Star," on HGTV. It was there, where she introduced to the world her unique style of mixing eco-friendly materials with touches of luxury.
Today, Blanche is a certified Interior Designer with over 25 years of experience in hospitality, residential, and commercial design and is the owner of B. garcia Designs based in Montclair, New Jersey. She is a “Green Design” LEED Accredited Professional through the United States Green Building Commission. She is also a member of ASID and a “WELL AP” design professional, which utilizes healthy concepts to promote human health and wellness within the built environment.
Blanche was also the principal designer featured in the popular Travel Channel reality series, "Hotel Impossible" for five seasons, where she helped tackle the job of revamping hotels along with host, Anthony Melchiorri. And her authored book AKA her passion project “Empowered Design: A Design Plan for Living” is inspiring people around the world.
HGTV named her one of their Faces of Design. Blanche and her firm B. garcia designs is also the proud recipient of the American Society of Interior Designers "Design of Excellence" Award in multiple categories. Her client list ranges from celebrities, corporations, restaurants, hotels, nightclubs, & homes all over the world. Most notably is her recently completed Wyndham TRYP Hotel located in Newark NJ. She has been featured on the cover of Montclair Magazine, and in the pages of Boutique Design Magazine and InspireDesign, the Wall Street Journal, The Huffington Post, US Magazine, Red Book, Latina, and more.
