I like the irony of the phrase wallflower for a painting of flowers that will hang on the wall, and a term for someone that tends to hang in the background. I kept wondering about the worlds and the backgrounds of my paintings. I have always liked the way nature looks in the early morning or twilight hours where the light takes over and the landscape, that moment where the isn’t a full silhouette because there is enough light sort of shimmering in those few moments of perfect light. I love these fleeting moments in the dawn or just before sunset where the light creates that perfect quiet moment.
