On a constant journey to explore the forms of nature and what unites everything, Zolo is currently playing with concepts of humanity and how far human-made forms can be pushed into abstraction. They use dry pastels with bold color choices to create ambiguous lines and distorted, whimsical shapes. The inability to know the exact shape they intended, viewers are given the ability to draw the finite lines wherever they choose. This freedom that is created allows their work to constantly seem in motion— as the viewers’ emotions change so too does the piece in front of them.
Concepts of beauty are constantly in flux. With distortion and whimsy, they cast doubt on preconceived notions of what is aesthetically pleasing. They aim to push this uncertainty off the canvas and challenge viewers to review their ties to concepts seen as absolute.
