Edwina Lucas was born and raised on Long Island, New York. The arts have always played a major role in her life. Lucas was taught oil painting at a young age by her mother and fell in love with the medium.
In 2013, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Skidmore College with a major in Studio Art and a minor in Art History. Her senior thesis earned honors from the department.Lucas also studied painting in Florence, Italy at the Studio Arts Center International (SACI) in 2011.
Today, Lucas lives and works in Sag Harbor, New York. Nature is the driving force behind Lucas’s work. She spends time immersed in the woods, gardens and beaches of her community, painting in plein air and gathering visual information. With each piece, she works to pay homage to her subjects, memorializing not only their physical features but also the feelings they awaken.
Lucas has shown her work in various galleries across the East End of Long Island including multiple group shows at the Grenning Gallery in Sag Harbor and two solo shows at Ille Arts in Amagansett, NY. Lucas also teaches oil painting at the Golden Eagle in East Hampton, NY.Read more...
