Aislinn Janek is a mixed-media painter based in Astoria, NY. Since 2014, she has lived and traveled throughout Europe, notably in Albania, Kosovo, Greece, and Czechia, where she has been awarded artist residencies. Janek is interested in human universalities,intercultural relationships, and how language informs one’s sense of self. She is intrigued by the fragmentation of information caused by language barriers and how memories are created, stored, and altered over time.
