Though we are currently in the midst of a world-wide pandemic, inside our homes our world can start to feel very small. But this can also be a time to remember, now more than ever, that we are all still connected on a global scale. And through all of this, it’s nice to step back and highlight a few good moments. As we think of the connected world around us, we are excited to announce our work in conjunction with the Arts in Embassies Program with US Ambassador to Mongolia Michael S. Klecheski. Through this program, ambassadors are invited to choose art from museums and galleries across the world to be shown in their embassies. We are so pleased Art in Res could help facilitate this joyful collaboration between two countries and cultures.
In this collection for Mongolia, Ambassador Klecheski selected a group of NY-based Art in Res artists to be showcased along with world renowned artist Nam June Paik, who is considered the founder of video art. To showcase our artists on a world stage along with other prestigious names in the art world is an incredible honor and opportunity for our Art in Res family.
We are pleased to announce Bruce Minson, Samantha Morris, Max Sarmiento, Suzanne Unrein, and Rachael Wren as the selected Art in Res artists. We spoke with a few of the artists to share their experiences with the program:
“It was wonderful to hear from John at Art in Res that the Ambassador to Mongolia wanted my painting ‘Aquarium' to hang in his office. I’ve always been fascinated by the exoticism of the country - its warring history, nomadic horse culture and extreme weather conditions. It makes sense that this particular painting should live there. Thanks John and Art in Res!” - Suzanne Unrein
“I love the idea of art as ambassador, and am thrilled that my work is contributing to Art in Embassies’ important mission of communication across cultures." - Rachael Wren
“The Art in Embassies program is such a great opportunity and I feel so lucky to be part of this experience.” - Samantha Morris
