McKenzie & Elliott (Headspace Murals)

No one does anything alone. Centering this truth, McKenzie and Elliott Eddy-Smith’s work is fueled by relationship - relationship to nature, to the collective, and to each other. When they met ten years ago, both having been touring musicians, they started off playing live shows together - an art form based on collaboration and harmony. That practice then carried over into creating 30+ large scale murals (and counting), which also introduced the practice of creating art in dialogue with community. Over the last few years, the duo have brought their creative ethos to smaller works, which they create together in their studio in Woodstock, NY. Their work primarily focuses on mood. They are drawn to feelings that create space, calm the nervous system, inspire creativity, and spark joy. They are interested in nature, unseen worlds, journey, and transformation. They hope to get you lost in a conceptual world of shape and color, or to simply make you feel good. Their process involves seasonal collections centered around color. They begin each collection by creating a palette, which is then used to design multiple works. This process leads to intuitive bursts of creativity exploring the infinite relationships between the colors in each palette. Most of the works in these collections are painted on wood panels, a creative choice and natural extension of the mural concepts.
